A visit of an English class on 3/29,02
Before observing class on Friday, I felt much pressure about it. It is said that the students and teachers in the collateral elementary school of NTCTC were different from the others.
As soon as I entered the language lab, I felt oppressed. It is due to the narrow space of the lab. Maybe it is because we were all in the lab with the students while learning. After reading the teaching design of the class, I had a strong expectation to see the teaching. The teaching plan described detailed and it had many goals in one class. It really surprised me a lot.

A visit of an English class on 3/22, 2002
Today we saw a nice demo of representing activities in English class. We have studied some essays about representing in classroom, such as drama, role-play show. As “group work” which is discussed in many books, we did watch a real example.
It was a kind of mode that the students all need to represent their acquired learning by drama. Besides, they also need to prepare other stage properties to be with them on stage. Though maybe some of them were not made by themselves, I still appreciate their working on this show.

A visit of an English class on 3/15, 2002
I am impressed on Teacher Ruan’s attitude. She prepared much before a class. I was wondering how did she have so many ideas?
Maybe she observed the environment well so she got some ideas from it.

Wow, I am impressed with your ideas, especially writing English poems! I am interested in poems as well. Though I am not good at understanding its meaning, I hope one day I can learn it by myself.
If you want to learn and read more about English poems, you can go to the library to get some information. I read a book called “Poems just for us” last semester and I think it is an easy start to learn English poems at the beginning.
It is written for the kids and most of them are creative and interesting. I think you will like it.

As soon as coming back from Phuket, I went to Tainan for a musical training. My elder sister is the leader of the philharmonic club at her school, so she invited me to join them and helped them to play the clarinet.
In the training, I made many friends in that club and they were all good to be with. The teacher we had then was a violinist in the Taipei philharmonic orchestra. He taught us how to recognize a good violin, viola and cello. The most important clue is examining many instruments and gaining experiences from looking them.
When we practiced, many funny things happened. Some are related to the musical usages and names. It is really interesting.

This Chinese New Year my family and I went to Phuket for a 5-day-trip. Phuket is one island of Thailand. As Taiwan, the ocean surrounds Phuket. The ocean is the Indian Ocean, so the water is saltier than the Pacific Ocean or the Atlantic.
Phuket is a vacation resort so that we saw many western people having a sunbath there. I guess they wanted to have tan so they left their homes and went Phuket to bask in the sun.
As everybody knows, Thailand is famous for the second kind of women. Most of them are even more beautiful than real women. In Phuket, people also can watch their shows as in Pattaya or Bangkok. Besides, Phuket is also noted for cashew nut. It is fragrant and brittle.

這學期過的真快,從開學一直忙到期末,竟然一學期就從忙碌中過去了。
忙碌的當中,雖然很辛苦,不過卻是滿載而歸。這學期的英語學程,相信全班都學到很多東西,也看了很多。尤其是那多樣性的童書,看的大家眼花撩亂,讚嘆不已。我才知道原來童書的變化可以這麼大。總之,對我而言,上學程的課是非常值得的。即使得熬夜作作業或捨棄一些事,不過我卻一點也不後悔。
從編寫歌曲,製作童書及設計闖關評量的教案,一樣一樣都是嘔心瀝血的作品,也讓我有點吃不消,不過,終究是走過來了,從中也從我的夥伴-昕馨學到很多東西。我覺得他對我的影響很大,是一位益友,他也說從我身上學到一些東西,我們兩個居然都從對方身上看到可以互相學習的地方。我覺得這種感覺很棒,也很高興跟昕馨成為好朋友。

          大元國小 闖關評量心得   
這次參與大元國小闖關評量,前前後後花了很多時間及心思。從一開始的惶恐到事後的成就感,差別真大。許多事情是需要親自做才會真正體會。
我們那一組一開始就決定要用什麼主題,討論的過程還算是蠻順利的,往往大家可以有一個共識。在編寫教案時,大家在考慮要用什麼物品時,總是有很多意見,但是要找出適宜的,攜帶方便的,又要考慮小朋友學過的,其實可用的東西很少。另一方面,在一開始設計題目時,我們都擔心是否題目會過於簡單,而教案一而再,再而三的修改,才知道原本我們都想太難了。

11月16日, 2001
仁愛國小魏老師(Carrie Wei)帶領我們從校門口到走到圖書室的途中,首先在走廊上有剛過不久的萬聖節佈置櫥窗,佈置得典雅精緻,看的出學校也是注重英語科。一路上,有許多環境文字(environmental print),也就是有中英文的標誌,例如保健室(Nursery Room),洗手間(Restroom)等等。
由於當時是中午午休時間,因此學校內顯得特別安靜。到了圖書室,發覺他們的圖書比起10幾年前我的小學年代豐富許多。英語童書雖然不多,但是魏老師充滿喜悅的告訴我們,這只是剛開始,他們將會慢慢擴充。看到魏老師那樣珍惜及看重這幾本童書,讓我不禁開始對這位老師有種欽佩的感覺。在學生上課之前,魏老師先告訴我們,待會要跟23個五年級的學生一起聽她說 “Old MacDonald Had a Farm”的故事。她準備了一些道具,例如吉他,錄音機,故事書,動物的圖卡,用棉花作成的鬍子等等。這個課程是屬於他們的課外活動課,不是正式的英語課,上課內容並不那麼正式,教學目的主要是屬於介紹性質的,也就是說要讓學生覺得有趣 (have fun only)。
